[09.18.2009]GrandTheftAuto fans meet Eric Pydz – GTA : The Ballad of Gay Tony

This posting is to inform you of the “greatest instrumental for a video game theme,” of all time! The beats hitting and that piano sound will have your feet stomping like the Ultimate Warrior from the WWF back in the day. Sitting here in my apartment all of the sudden I hear this epic piano start playing and then I look up and see those stiff moving computer models moving around talking about “Liberty City.” I looked up only to see a newly advertised gun-slingin, car-chasin, and street-hustlin Grand Theft Auto: the Ballad of Gay Tony. All the while during this awesome bouquet of graphics and explosion is the monster sound of that piano from Eric Prydz’s track – Pjanoo.
Electrifying is what the song should also be called or just plain and simply named, “The Greatest Instrumental for a video game theme.” Eric Prydz (aka Pryda) has produced several instrumental hits but none as great as his classic Pjanoo which reached, No.2 on the UK Billboards in 2008. As being an instrumental it’s very difficult to make it even onto the charts let alone at the top.
Armed, Frankfurt, and Call on Me (video below) are some of Prydas’ hits. The track “Call on Me,” you may recognize as a version of a certain 80’s song Valerie by Steve Winwood who recorded the vocals for Eric’s track. Call on Me, would most likely be Eric Prydz’s next big hit considering the amount of clubs in Europe that mixed this track into sets for us dance floor addicts. The video shows a dozen sweaty but yet refined women dancing as well as one awkward goofy looking guy doing aerobics in 80’s tribute. Hopefully the people will read this article and understand I didn’t just post the new “Axe : Bodyspray” commercial on the site. Along with Armed featured in sets from Dj’s such as Sasha and Digweed it’s safe to say Pryda has some club bangers . It’s okay to stomp and do the rain dance to Pjanoo until you get a chance to run amuck in Liberty City again. Oh how I wish I still had my Xbox 360….
