Crack open that bottle of Champagne and turn up the volume- Tiesto’s podcast

Tiesto. ft the beautiful Nelly Furtado - Who Wants to be Alone, is quite enticing and it still made me feel like I should do the side to side 80’s head jerk move. Nelly Furtado, (will you marry me?!) is the same ginormous pop star that brought you “I’m like a Bird,” is now in a genre that I think her vocals could do some real damage in. Trance becoming its own genre in electronic music really took off with the old school Paul Oakenfold tracks that have been heard through billions of clubs and movies (Bourne Identity) in the world.

With artists such as Tiesto and Oakenfold you could expect to have some quality vocalists fill in the void of these whimsical tunes, although I do love listening to music without lyrics I don’t mind an occasional sing along. I see Nelly Furtado as being one of those few individuals that can blend into any genre and still sound delicious. Although I think that trance is a bit played out I can’t hate too much for the fact Tiesto is what brought me to listening to mostly electronic music. I do wonder however why Tiesto didn’t bring Julie Thompson (Nothing 93 mix-Holden) or Kristy Hawkshaw (Just Be- Tiesto) into the mix but chose a more commercial pop-star, hrmmms??!

Most folks that listen to trance still are either beginners to the whole scene, or really just find their memories with those whimsical parts during a trance track that sound like fairies are spreading their magical pixy dust everywhere. In this song the Never-Never-land part hits about 3:16 into Nelly’s solo- very dependable and very trance- esque. The other posted track, It’s Not the Things You Say, from Tiesto’s brand new album Kaleidoscope features front-man of Bloc Party- Kele Okereke. Overall I think most of the album is solid with a mixture of Tiesto originals and guest vocals from the likes of Tegan N’ Sara, Cary Brothers, and Calvin Harris. Since the mood is right and I think I have a captive audience I’ll post some oldies of vocal trance [In Searchof Sunrise 3: Panama- Tiesto's Best] and his tour dates as well. Tiesto’s new album, Kaleidoscope, is out now on Beatport.com and other major download sites. Thought I’d sneak in some more Human League to bring everyone back 2 eras.. hehe.
