Seeing Shlohmo live was an interesting experience, mostly because it was surprising. I went in expected something more akin to his albums, which have mostly served ambient (albeit danceable) purposes for me, but instead, his set was packed with killer hip-hop to get the crowd dancing and the ladies melting (I unashamedly count myself among the girlpuddle).
Shlohmo should just go ahead and consider becoming the next Clams Casino; rappers, listen up, get this man on top of your beats. But actually, Shlohmo, much like Clams Casino, doesn't really need rappers to lean on; he can do his own thing just fine. It's just a tasty new treat when he does happen to get his hands dirty with some hip-hop. His take on Drake's verse from DJ Khaled's "I'm On One" is a slowed-down, warped, spooky version of the original, and a vast improvement if I do say so myself.
