In their forthcoming First Serve concept album, De La Soul’s Plug 1 & Plug 2, aka Deen Whitter and Jacob 'Pop Life' Barrow, narrate the story of two young boys from Queens, New York with big dreams and larger rhymes. The record follows them finding their way in the unforgiving world of hip hop, beginning with Deen’s mother giving them grief as the duo learn their craft in her basement over a few 40s:

As we catch up with their progress in this latest skit, all the hard work, smoking and drinking have paid off. Jacob and Deen have penned a deal with Goon Time Records, ‘the biggest mixtape king across the whole continent’, and are set for the big time.

Luckily the record isn’t restricted to the animated world of Goon Time and we can expect the First Serve album to hit the ‘real’ streets in early April, preceded by their “Pushin' Aside, Pushin' Along” single.
