Opal Block - "Windyke" [Exclusive]
02.22.2012 Alyce Currier

Informational nuggets about Opal Block are few and far between, but what we do know is that he comes from Manchester, Britain and is a jack of all musical trades, having taken the roles of both singer and producer. In the track he's generously given Earmilk to offer for free download, "Windyke", he plays the part of producer, creating an in-your-face wonky track that reminds me a bit of Rustie. There's little room for subtlety here, but Opal Block manages to avoid cheesiness and create something that can serve as the high-energy highlight of your bass-driven DJ sets or party mixes (or amp you up in the middle of the day, of course). While only a handful of tracks from Opal Block are floating around right now (you can find some on his Soundcloud, below), he's dabbled in a number of genres for a while, and we'll be keeping an eye on new-but-not-infantile label Prism (also home to Jon Phonics and Evil Needle) to make sure not to miss his future formalized releases.
