Mashup Monday – We're back again with some of the freshest mashes to start your week off right. These are the mashes that are worth hearing, so stop your searching and instead settle down at your computer… turn up your speakers… and get ready for that sweet nectar that only EARMILK can give ya. Let's GO.
So I missed last week as I was having trouble with the EARMILK server switch. I felt y'all's pain of not being able to post, so I decided to up the ante from the normal 15ish tracks I normally post and give you 26. Yep…it's a double session for missing last week. With so many tracks, I don't really know where to start but no matter where you decide to press play, I'm sure you'll find a song that is perfect for you.
Like I said, I don't know which track to really start with so I chose randomly. The winner is…"Watch The Sun Come Up Is So Good" by RiK (Dranoel was a big fan of this track). It's a "happy feel good electro" mash, according to Dranoel, and I'm inclined to agree with him. Listening to the track makes you smile, makes you want to turn up the volume just so you can keep getting lost in the beat. Next track that I truly enjoyed was Compson Sound's "One Republic's Dancing Sunshine" as it continues with those feel good vibes courtesy of Avicii with David Guetta. One Republic vocals were a nice touch as they are an underused sample that definitely works well with many beats (take note mashup artists).
2 interesting mashes that caught my eye were that of wait what and SoSuperSam. Wait what is known for taking samples and combining them in a manner that is truly unexpected. The chosen samples this time were Waka Flocka Flame, Wale and Roscoe combined with the Bag Raiders. I had never heard the instrumental sample of the Bag Raiders but it gave Waka, Wale, and Roscoe a sound that would certainly be hard to come up with off the top of your head. Kudos to wait what for their track. 2nd track is of a new artist to me, SoSuperSam. Mashing Lana Del Rey with Nas creates something that is easy to jam to. Definitely think that Lana's vocals went well over the instrumental, and you just can't go wrong with Nas's flow.
Finally, I've been holding on to this track for awhile unsure if I should post it. I definitely dig it just on its' uniqueness factor, and have yet to find a track quite like it. I'm referring to DJ Riko's "Whistler's Delight" and as the title infers it truly is a delight. Combining various whistling samples from shows, movies, songs, etc. Riko makes a track that is pretty much formed completely with whistles. Some may hate it, while others may love it for what it is – a song that takes some classic whistles and creates a stunning tributary masterpiece.
