If you only started following the soul-provoking Aloe Blacc when he released his international hit, "I Need A Dollar", you have some catching up to do. Stones Throw Records, the label he is signed with and early adopters of Blacc's music, will attest to the fact that Blacc's career started long before "I Need A Dollar" put him on mainstream charts. At the end of the 90's when he was working as one half of Emanon, a hip hop duo that included producer Exile, his work enabled him to collaborate with Kero One, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson Ensemble, Gift of Gab (of Blackalicious) and Silo. Then in 2010, the same year "I Need A Dollar" was heard on radio stations around the world, Blacc released his second album off Stones Throw, entitled Good Things.

Scouring any and all musical archives within reach, DJ Djouls of Paris DJs created an impressive collective of taste-making DJs, took it upon himself to create an enlightening mix of Blacc's work with tracks ranging from 1999 through last year. It's a fantastic meld of jazz, reggae, hip hop, latin and funk that aptly showcases Blacc's versatility and dynamism as an artist. Download the mix

One last thing: promise yourself you will see this man live when you get the chance. It's an experience you won't easily regret.
