A Quick Word from the Author:

Author Profile

If there are any ambitious students out there looking for a fun, non-paying internship this fall/winter, drop me an email— please be honest with yourself though, because I need someone who is diligent, in-tune with the “Indie Scene,” and who is honestly doing this for the opportunity rather than just for the fun factor.  Essentially, I’m looking for someone to help me make the Sabbath a weekly feature for about 2/3 months.   I’m pretty fussed with a handful of nagging— but priorities nonetheless— occupational errands that I’ll be doing for the next two months, so more often than not the Sabbath will be bi-weekly. This is no terrible thing, but the Sabbath hasn’t been weekly for a while and I’d love to make this happen, both for you and for myself.

I had to make this week a bit brief, so it’s not as “Fancy” as the others, but it still gets the job done.

Highlights on Conner Youngblood for the album of the week with his sophomore record Sketches pt. 2— full review Monday on Straight From The Teet. Also, this week is more of a compilation of the past few weeks, so enjoy the tunes— If you don’t have time to sift through them all, just download them.

They’re certified fresh.

Overview

  • The Pasture covers the basics, from Folk to Rock to Pop, and will now serve as the hub for the tracks perfect for any occasion.
  • The Chicken Dance is a hodge podge of tracks that you could be excused for doing the, err… Chicken Dance to. Although these aren’t simply Dance tracks, they’re all good to whip your hair around to.
  • Lastly, The Tryptophan is built for those relaxed moments, where you’re winding down with the aid of something herbal — or even for a time where you might just want some background atmospherics to doze off to.

WANT MORE INDIE SABBATH?

There’s plenty more where this came from. Click the link above to check out the rest, and stay tuned in for more of the best in Indie as well as everything else, right here on EARMILK.

Upon this day, I declare that Indie music is leaps and bounds more pure than anything else, and the term “Indie” means not that a band isn’t mainstream, but that a band has been able to hold on to its roots, even through fame and fortune. While the wonderful thumps and womps of other genres get me grooving, it will always be the sui generis of Indie that guides me to the homeland. And for that — I both thank it and applaud it — for it has brought me great pleasure in the past and will so in the future.

The Tryptophan link is the same as the chicken dance one for me ?!

  • BNF

This is the 2nd time I’ve frequented The Indie Sabbath and the 2nd time the download links have been catawampus. Not to say that it’ll deter me from downloading each song individually or from coming back, just giving you some friendly feedback. Keep it up!

  • Manuel

nice to see the sabbath back (even it is unregularly), but I can’t help to think that it felt a little short on the whole “rock” part
