Ponchos - "Olympics" [Premiere]
02.04.2013 Briana Cheng

Almost a year ago, the anonymous Chicago-based experimental artist, Ponchos, released his EP called Right Time. That collection landed his first appearance on EARMILK and today, we are premiering an upcoming track from Pretty Beats (EP set to be freed on February 12th).

Ponchos is an excellent sound engineer with a distinctive way of implementing endless layers of personality into ambient music. That said, the song we are debuting is titled "Olympics". It starts off with a slow crawl and as seconds pass, the music grips you with intensity and explores through various industrial soundscapes. Every second is a turn of a kaleidoscope channeling through vibrant strokes of percussion, bass and electronic distortions. The clash of noise in "Olympics" is incredibly powerful. It brings back feelings of the first time I watched Titanic which makes me want to cry, to feelings of ambition and accomplishment. Be the first to listen to it below.
