With all the progression in DAW technology and sentiment for synths and 808 kits, it’s easy to forget how refreshing one man with a guitar can be. It’s like finally standing with your feet on the earth. John Cole Peterson is that man. He’s Ava Luna meets Black Rebel Motorcycle Club: straightforward lyricism and comfort with space, making something both new and nostalgic. If you’ve been on a back porch when a train comes through or if you’ve been in the neon lights of a rural dive bar, you’ve felt this song. It’s so nice to finally hear it.
