There is a resurrection of 90's flavor in Hip-Hop today, especially the rugged, heavy sampled part of it. A good example of this trend comes from Milwaukee native Yo- Dot's newly released project A Winter's Ration. The six-track EP takes a lot of old school flavor and adds just enough modern feel to it so that it becomes a unique sound of it's own.
The Hart Gunther produced opening track "I'm On It" sets the tone for the project as Dot carries you through an EP filled with heavy emotions and life stories. A couple examples in this case would be his emotional track "Open Eye" and the very motivational "Enjoy The Moment". You can stream and download the EP on Audiomack and make sure you watch out for the emcee from the "Land Of 10,000 Lakes" in 2014 as his style and flow just might have what it takes to make it out of the cold world of the underground and into the warm place that is the mainstream.
