UK tenacious tech-house man, Mr. G aka Colin McBean, has yet to relinquish a thirst for raw, hard funk grooves. Summer 2013 may have seen Retrospective, a selection of Mr. G’s most impressive analog wind-ups over the last two decades, yet it’s far from over for the idolized producer, whose “rude basslines” take rank for their tight loops, rubbery clatters, and synth stabs to keep it wild as a flame’s lick.
Mr. G stamps his signature flicker here, on Swedish Ida Engberg’s latest EP title track, “Devil Dance.” The full release drops digitally March 28 on Crosstown Rebels, alongside another quite inverse, minimal rework from Adam Beyer.
