Beat tapes are something of a staple for the hip hop scene, with many producers getting their name around via these instrumental-only projects. One man behind the boards is hoping that his latest project will garner the attention of hip hop heads around the globe, and that guy is Charles The Kid.
The London based beat-wizard has been making music for the best part of twelve years now, and alongside running 'Dr Soundcloud', a platform where people can get organic feedback on their music exclusively on Soundcloud, he's been working on his latest project FTLOR Vol. 1. This week, we're exclusively bringing you the complete project and it's quite something. This beat tape showcases Charles ability to pick out and flip a sample excellently, with a few of the samples used being found on old CD's lying around the house as well as songs found in old movies. FTLOR is a journey through the mind of Charles The Kid, from tranquil sounds such as "Too Foreign" and "Paradise", to the more darker tones of "The Pick Up", each track has a prominent sample that comes into play and really grabs your attention.
