I know I may write a lot about GoldLink, and it's to the point where you may think I'm creepy about it. But, a song came across my constant feed of music submissions today that is an absolute legitimate reason to continue the trend.
D.C. native Alex Young and Jonah Baseball have put together quite the rendition of GoldLink's finale track from The God Complex, "When I Die". It starts out identically to the original, but as soon as that first congo rhythm drops in, you're instantaneously consumed by edited beat pattern boldness. I'm super into this style right now, and it's amazing the boys could take the complex structure of Link's lyrics and morph it flawlessly over an original production. An instant favorite in an honestly A.D.D. industry.
Take a listen to the edit now, and check out the kid Alex Young's stellar Soundcloud. He's 17, and this jam is not one to sweep under the rug. See all you kids at GoldLink's performance at Splash House this weekend!
