London electro-pop/soul band, Years & Years, is on a hot streak. After racking up over a million listens on SoundCloud with last year's "Real" and releasing the insanely catchy "Take Shelter," Years & Years aim for fame with "Desire."
The track is instantly infectious, beginning with exuberant synthesizers and slow-building vocals. Olly Alexander's high pitch vocals come in and demonstrate that he is up there with some of pop and R&B's top singers, like The Weeknd, vocally. The lyrics aren't all that different from The Weeknd's either, with Alexander singing, "I want desire, 'cause your love only gets me abused." The backbeat though, is something original and unique. It combines elements of UK garage music with EDM while harking back to pop music of the past. In all, "Desire" is an ear treat that will fulfill most, if not all, of your desires.
European fans can catch Years & Years opening for big league acts Clean Bandit (in the UK) and Sam Smith (on his sold out European tour).
