Jape - "The Oldest Mind"

Irish folk-tronic band Jape has a fourth album! This precious work of art is entitled "Ocean of Frequency" and track number three is The Oldest Mind. Although we can only hear one song from this album, I am completely sold. The Oldest Mind will fill your room with distant echoes, nostalgic tempos and a wandering mind. Give it a listen or just download it. Play "Ocean of Frequency" will be out on the September 30th.

Tokyo Police Club Covers M83

Tokyo Police Club is currently in the works of their latest project. Titled 10 days, 10 covers, 10 years, the project consists of the band covering a single track from each year during the last decade (2001 - 2010) and releasing them on various music media outlets from August 24 - September 3. Today, Tokyo Police Club released their eighth song from the project. The band chose to cover M83's 2008 single "Kim and Jesse" from the band's fifth LP, Saturday = Youth.  Listen to the band's cover of "Kim and Jesse" below...

The Drums - Portamento [Album Tease]

It seems like there are a lot of exciting releases for the month of September. Portamento is definitely high up on my album list but instead of waiting until the 13th, Soundvenue generously provided the entire collection so we can stream it right as you're reading this! The Drums are a band that...

The City And Horses

A children's television producer and a local music creator by the name of Marc is one fascinating man. Signed with Paper Garden Records, Marc manages to keep The City and Horses in the shadows of Brooklyn's indie music scene. According to Time Out New York, Marc produces music that is both "wise...

The Indie Sabbath - Week 12

Being an indie fan means enjoying music that has not yet hit the mainstream. Being an indie fan means name-dropping musicians in conversations and being met with the dreaded awkward stare. Being an indie fan means exposing yourself to the melting pot of up-and coming artists just waiting to be...

Live Pomegranates!

On a dull Wednesday evening, Pomegranates played a lively show at The Knitting Factory with Extra Arms and Figurines. The Knitting Factory is an all ages music venue, located off of Metropolitan in Williamsburg. That said, the place naturally attracts all the hip-cats from Brooklyn with their indie...

Dr.Dog Tours With Bright Eyes!

It's a given that whoever comes across EARMILK's Indie section are familiar with major indie bands, Dr. Dog and Bright Eyes. They were at least more popular in the early 2000's than this decade. Now, there's a dying trend of music produced with real instruments. I am guilty of following this new...

Chains of Love

Shea Stadium (not to be confused with the sports arena) is one of those neighborhood-y, DIY venues that I always take my visitors to. Everyone seems be impressed with the hidden spot and the music played there.  On a dark rainy night in Shea Stadium, some friends and I stumbled upon Chains of...
