[02.13.2010]Daily 2% – Chilled and Ready to Serve [machinedrum + Nami Unreal]

Author: montrey

This is your Daily 2% – Chilled and Ready to Serve. We will try to bring you one “chill” track every day. This is for when you get home and you are trying to unwind. You reach for that glass of wine or that unlit Black & Mild or maybe you reach for something more herbal. This track is for those times. We will try to bring you at least one a day. We are just your milkmen and I’m here to make a delivery. Chill…..

Today’s delivery is brought to you by machinedrum featuring Nami Unreal. I came across machinedrum through a friend and I’m glad for that day because I havent listened to much IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) but the more I hear some the more I really love it. machinedrum hails from New York and much like Flying Lotus; he has produced music for Adult Swim interludes and we all know Adult Swim has some of the best music sprinkled throughout their programming. The song i’m bringing to you today is called “Roll & Feel” and its from macinedrum’s album entitled  want to 1 2? I’ve also included the music video with this song which is what really got me liking the song. The song also featurs Nami Unreal who is a j-pop/electronica artist that hails from Tokyo. This song really tries to put you in a little trance so check out the song and chill…

[01.09.2010]Baths – Maximalist

Author: JSTN

BATHS

From the unlikely Chatsworth CA, comes the beautifully abstract Baths (not pictured). He played a set last week for the Leaving Records party and left a lot of jaws dropped. If this much forward thinking is going into productions this early, it may be a sign that 2010 is going to be a great year. Or see it before your own eyes after the jump..

[10.01.2009]Bassnectar – Cozza Frenzy + Fever Ray Remix + Tour Dates

Author: jsully

Bassnectar

So, to be honest, I have hesitated about posting this for a little while now. I’m a huge Bassnectar fan, but mainly the older stuff he did before ‘Underground Communication‘. That album threw me off, (except ‘Verbing the Noun‘, that track was sick.) and I was about to say to hell with it. I read post about his new album “Cozza Frenzy” that is about to get released, and I saw he was coming to Miami for a show, so naturally, I said “Hey let me see what this cat is up to.” I’m glad I did, since I gripped the Fever Ray remix he did, and you can get it too at the bottom of this page. I would, since listening to it once got me back into a Bassnectar frenzy all by itself. You can also listen to the title track from his new album below.

Bassnectar is a freeform electronic music and social experimentation project based in San Francisco, California. Primarily a music project of Lorin Ashton, Bassnectar is also accompanied by various collaborators. Ashton describes Bassnectar’s sound as “omni-tempo maximalism,” by which he means combining beats and basslines with music of any or all speeds, time signatures, rhythms, and sound source. The sound gravitates toward heavy tempos, playing with double time and half time, and using electronic methods to embellish and reinforce other styles of music.

[09.03.2009]Lusine – Cirrus

Author: jsully

Lusine

Lusine dropped a new song on Sept. 1’st that I’ve really been into. It’s a little more mellow than most IDM, which I enjoy. His break beat style almost has a sort of hip hop feel too, at the same time being somewhat ambient if that makes any sense. Its one of those break songs you can kinda nod your head to, which is rare. It has a ton of sounds in it, one of which being this low synth that drives the whole thing in this super mellow tone.

Lusine is the brainchild of Jeff McIlwain, and is the moniker for his music. Originally a Texas native, he now plays in Seattle. In 1998, he attended Calarts to study 20th century electronic music and sound design for music and film. Soon after, he met Shad Scott and put out a self titled release with Isophlux. Since then, he has been releasing his music on various labels including Ann Arbor’s Ghostly International, Hymen, and U-Cover.

I’m really into it, and if you like IDM chances are you’ll be able to get into it as well. If you like more ambient stuff, or even hip hop I bet you can still chill to it. Let me know what you guys think in the comments, I’m interested to know. I am also throwing in a gnar video I found of his. Its all lights that go along with the music. Super artsy, and super cool. Enjoy.
