Serj Tankian - “Left Of Center” [NEW VIDEO + AUDIO]

Author: montrey

Categories: Alternative, Rock

Serj Tankian has released a new video for the track “Left of Center” and of course it can be quite “disturbing” but not as much as previous videos he has been associated with. We all remember listening to System of a Down back in the day and it still feels similar considering his voice is so distinctive. It’s almost like listening to Billy Corgan on his own because it still sounds like the original group. This track will be featured on the album Imperfect Harmonies which is suppose to drop next month on the 21st. Check out the video and track below.

Outasight - “Near The End” Feat. Freddie Gibbs

Author: montrey

Outasight has teamed up with Freddie Gibbs to create a pretty groovy fusion of a track. The track is called “Near The End” and I would suspect that most people wouldn’t of expected a collaboration of these two artists but the outcome of this odd pairing makes the greatness of the track even greater.  There is definitely a blues (yet upbeat) influence to the track and it somewhat reminds me somewhat of something you might hear from SHWAYZE. Check out the track below.

Daily 2% - Chilled and Ready to Serve [Sparklehorse]

Author: montrey

This is your Daily 2% – Chilled and Ready to Serve. We will try to bring you one “chill” track every day. This is for when you get home and you are trying to unwind. You reach for that glass of wine or that unlit Black & Mild or maybe you reach for something more herbal. This track is for those times. We will try to bring you at least one a day. We are just your milkmen and I’m here to make a delivery. Chill…..

Today’s delivery is made possible by a few artists. The track features Sparklehorse, Jason Lytle and also Danger Mouse which was a track from the album Dark Night of the Soul which was never officially released. It’s also with a heavy heart that I must remind you that the lead singer of Sparklehorse committed suicide back in March which puts a halt on the genius that he produced but at least we can relish in his past work. The track I’m bringing to you today is called “Everytime I’m With You” which is a bit somber but chill nonetheless and I would say that this track reminds me of something that you might hear from Elvis Perkins or other similar artists that have an “older” sound. Check out the track and relax…

Interpol - Lights

Indie favorite Interpol has released a new track that is available for free download, and I’m loving it right now. On March 6, 2009, Interpol announced on their website that they are working on songs for a fourth album. The LP was recorded in Electric Lady Studios during spring of 2009. In a recent interview, drummer Sam Fogarino, referred to the album as having gone back to the original sound of Turn On the Bright Lights. It was later claimed by Paul Banks that it will not sound anything like their debut album and that there is some very “classical stuff going on” with it. Although no more information has further been released, they were announced as openers for the third and fourth leg of U2′s “360°” Tour.It was also announced recently that it will be bassist Carlos D.’s last effort with Interpol. In an announcement on the official website May 9, 2010 fans learned that he had left sometime after the album’s completion. When the remaining members tour in support, he will be replaced by multiple players.

You can say its gonna “have some classical stuff going on” all you want, but it sounds like good ol’ Interpol to me. I’m into it. You will be too. Enjoy.

Local Natives - Wide Eyes (Suckers Remix)

Author: Reyn

Last week I had a chance to catch Local Natives perform here in NYC. Little did I know that a band by the name of Suckers was opening. I had been a fan of their self-titled EP for the past few months now, but they took their recorded songs to whole new level on stage. Since the two are touring together, I assume that is why Suckers decided to remix one of my favorite songs off Local Natives album, Gorilla Manor. It’s quite interesting what they did with this song, a very unique spin without losing any of the songs original flavor. Give it a spin and share some thoughts!

The Black Keys - Next Girl [Video]

Author: jsully

So I may have received a copy of the new The Black Keys album a little early. Don’t ask how. All I can say, is it’s amazing. Yes, I’m going to give you a taste here, but you better go and pick it up on May 18th. It is pure Texas Tea if you know what I’m sayin’. Black Gold. (Yes, I do know they are from Ohio.) I guess maybe in our case, it’s some of the finest dairy I’ve seen in a minute. The Black Keys can’t particularly help but put out music that will make you drink a bottle of whiskey and dance in the summer sun all day. I think my other favorite part about them is that they don’t take themselves too seriously, even though they damn well could. If you listen to this music and don’t want to boogie until the sun comes up, you have no soul. Straight up. Deal with it, mook.

This first video is for a new track on their album called “Next Girl“, that features Frank the Funkasaurus which was shown on one of their other video pre releases “Tighten Up“. In “Next Girl” Frank not only shows us his great dance moves, but how he is a mack that we can all look up to. I love this time of year. I’m gonna go ahead and throw in 3 tracks, and the 2 videos. I don’t want to give too much away on the new album, so the third track is one of my previous favorites. Enjoy.

Band of Horses - Infinite Arms

Author: jsully

I am stoked that it’s May Day. This means a bunch of different things to me. It’s my birthday month, but way more importantly than that, is the amount of great albums coming out this month. Flying Louts, Broken Social Scene, Minus The Bear,  The New Pornographers , and our indie taste of the day Band of Horses with their album “Infinite Arms”. Even Herbie Hanckock has an album coming out. My milk carton overflow-eth!

Band of Horses have relocated to Bridwell’s native South Carolina, minus Rob Hampton who has left the band, so the current line-up is Ben Bridwell, Creighton Barrett (drums), Ryan Monroe (keyboards, guitar and vocals), Bill Reynolds (bass) and Tyler Ramsey (guitar and vocals), who also provides opening performances on tour. I’m excited to see how the new album turns out, but I know it’s definitely going in a good direction. These tracks released are great. They don’t seem as drafty like some of their other albums. I do have to say, about anything with Tyler Ramsey’s voice over it would sound pretty good. I never can get over how haunting it is. These are 3 tracks from Infinite Arms, two for download, one video. Enjoy.

800BELOVED - Everything Purple

800BELOVED

I recently stumbled across this little purple indie gem. 800BELOVED is definitely got some of that whole 80′s synth post-punk vibe to it, but it also is very mature sounding. When I hear this song, I think of someone listens to a lot of post rock, drinks a lot of coffee, and spends endless time doing very intellectually stimulating puzzles. Maybe that just me. It was written by Sean Lynch, the voice behind the moniker, along side Anastasiya Metesheva, and Scott Masson. They are very new members to the Moodgadget family, and I know everyone there is psyched to have them. Lynch has a very recognizable voice, which is not quite the same on this new song. I’ve listed two tracks from different releases so you can get a feel for what I’m saying here. This song is much more “choral” like. Oh, and it’s unmixed. And still sounds this good. Enjoy.
