Considering the fact that the this is about the time that the new Gorillaz album is dropping; i figured it would be fitting to pick a track from that album. The track i’m bringing to you today is called “Broken” which is of course off the album Plastic Beach.The album itself is already receiving mostly positive reviews and we here on Earmilk love the album and this track stood out to me and not just because its a little chiller than the rest but this song in particular seemed to draw massive amounts of imagery in my mind that others did not. Maybe it’s just me but regardless..check out the track and relax….

Today’s delivery is brought to you by Martin Denny. Any fans of Exotica out there? The genre started in 1957 when Martin Denny released an album called Exotica which spawned a whole new type of music that involves sexy tropical island drums, animal sounds and a lounge feel. This is about the time the whole tiki craze started. A lot of real islanders were upset because this genre was nothing like the tropical environments at all but nonetheless I’m a fan of the genre. Today’s song is also actually called “Exotica” and its from the album Forbidden Island. This track should be played in the background as you mix drinks for the lady/guy friend and of course the drink of choice is a nice martini(chilled). Check out the track and relax?….

The track i’m bringing to you today is called “Twoism” and it’s from their album by the same name, Twoism, which takes you all the way back to 1995. If you aren’t familiar with these guys then I definitely want you to give this track ample time because you might not appreciate it right from the beginning but once it gets going you’re gonna love it. This track may be best for headphones or a pretty good sound system because its got some very nice ambient noise that is very layered. So listen to the track and chill…

The track is called “LoveLine(s),DedicatedToLastFe’vrier” which is definitely a mouthful but fortunately its a mouthful of fine wine that’s been aged to perfection. Blu took the beat from Exile’s “Love Line” track off the album Radio and just goes to work on it with a smoothness that only Blu could accomplish. I’ve also included the original Exile track so you can really hear how smooth the beat is. It has bits of Exotica and Jazz mixed in that comes off so flawlessly through experimentation. Today’s delivery is brought to you by Easy Star All-Stars. A lot of people were introduced to this group back in 2006 when they dropped the Radiohead cover album entitled Radiodread. The album was a filled with dubbed/reggae versions of classic Radiohead tracks and these guys really are able to keep the essence of the original song yet make the song their own. The track i’m bringing to you today is “Within You Without You” which features Matisyahu and its from their latest album entitled Easy Star’s Lonely Hearts Dub Band which is a tribute album to The Beatles’ album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.  The track is very trance-y and melodic but it is these qualities that make it worthy of a Daily 2%. You may be reminded of groups like Thievery Corporation when listening. Check out the track and chill….

I came across machinedrum through a friend and I’m glad for that day because I havent listened to much IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) but the more I hear some the more I really love it. machinedrum hails from New York and much like Flying Lotus; he has produced music for Adult Swim interludes and we all know Adult Swim has some of the best music sprinkled throughout their programming. The song i’m bringing to you today is called “Cherish the Day” and this version is from her live album entitled Lovers Live which came out in 2002. This live version shows just how versatile Sade’s voice is and how close it is to the studio version of the song. Hopefully she goes on tour for her latest album, Soldier of Love, because seeing her live would be a once in a lifetime type thing and I would make every effort to attend regardless of the location. The group pretty much started out as a Bob Marley tribute band and we’ve posted about this group before and pretty much all the tracks they produce are instant classics for me.
