[01.04.2010]Daily 2% – Chilled and Ready to Serve [Brazilian Girls]

Author: montrey

This is your Daily 2% – Chilled and Ready to Serve. We will try to bring you one “chill” track every day. This is for when you get home and you are trying to unwind. You reach for that glass of wine or that unlit Black & Mild or maybe you reach for something more herbal. This track is for those times. We will try to bring you at least one a day. We are just your milkmen and I’m here to make a delivery. Chill…..

Today’s delivery is brought to you by Brazilian Girls. No not the big booty ones from Rio Rio de Janeiro but the band that actually hails from New York City. They are labeled as an electronica dance music group but some of their songs are all over the place with a mix of reggae/downtempo and more. None of the actual people in the group are even from Brazil and there’s only one girl in the band but that’s not important. What is important is they make great music and today i’m actually giving you a double dosage. The first song, “All We Have”, is a pretty chill song and somehow reminds me of a French love song for some reason..plus the lead singer speaks French, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian which gets put into some of their songs every so often. The second song, “Pussy”, could be classified as “chill” during certain parts of the song but overall I just like the song and how catchy it is. Plus the song “Pussy” talks about the important things in life you know? Both of these songs are from their first album from 2005 entitled Brazilian Girls. Check out the tracks and chill…

Today’s delivery is brought to you by a group called Dry & Heavy which is a Japanese dub & reggae band.  They have really good dub influences such as Lee Perry and King Tubby who are some of the innovators of the genre as a whole. This song i’m bringing to you today is called “Landing”  and its one of the chillest songs i’ve ever heard. Its an odd mix of dub/downtempo/sensual and electric guitar. Its like Sade meets Lee Perry meets Carlos Santana. Check out the song below and just relax…

Today’s delivery is brought to you by Blue Sky Black Death or simply BSBD which is “a skydiving phrase alluding to beauty and death”. This duo, consisting of  Young God and Kingston, is known for their Hip-Hop/Electronica as well as their lite vocal instrumentals. Some of their instrumentals remind me of something you might hear from Massive Attack but just not as dark. The track I’m bringing to you today is one of their instrumental tracks which is called “Shoot You Dead” which was released on their 2008 album entitled Late Night Cinema. So check out the track and chill…

Today’s delivery is brought to you by the Fugees. There’s no introduction necessary but the track I’m bringing you today takes you all the way back to ‘96 when their album, The Score, dropped and was an instant classic. I’m sure there are many out there besides me that wish Lauryn Hill came back in the same capacity that she existed back in the day but until that day we can re-live that amazing feeling we got from her music by remembering tracks like this one. The track is called “How Many Mics” and I don’t think it was ever released as a “single” but it should of been. Lauryn Hill destroyes(sp?) this track. So listen and chill….

Today’s delivery is brought to you by the legendary Steel Pulse. I try to sprinkle some reggae in here every now and then because I think EVERYONE should appreciate and respect reggae. These guys started all the way back in 1975 and the crazy thing is they have an album planned for 2010 already. The track i’m bringing to you today on this glorious Friday is called “Roller Skates”. It’s probably one of their most famous tracks and its definitely super catchy. Hopefully this song gets stuck in your head all day and then I know I’ve done my job. So I want you to sit back..check out the track..and relax…

Massive Attack

This is your Daily 2% – Chilled and Ready to Serve. We will try to bring you one “chill” track every day. This is for when you get home and you are trying to unwind. You reach for that glass of wine or that unlit Black & Mild or maybe you reach for something more herbal. This track is for those times. We will try to bring you at least one a day. We are just your milkmen and I’m here to make a delivery. Chill…..

Today’s delivery is brought to you by Massive Attack. This track goes all the way back to their 1998 album Mezzanine which was an instant classic. These guys were ahead of their time and most of their tracks are timeless but you could still pin-point when they started just because they helped start the whole “Trip-Hop” movement so it can become dated. The track I’m bring to you today is called “Black Milk” and you really need a sub-woofer or some good bass to appreciate the song but its definitely got a chilled out beat to it and trippy at the same time. Check out the track and chill…
