Mashup Monday – We’re going to melt you faces off with enough mashed up music to make you wanna slap yo’ mama. Earmilk staff itstk and JSully will be bringing you the dopest dope in the mashup world. We’ve been scouring the music lands, and filing through tracks that you enthusiastic readers and musicians have sent us. We’ve found mashups from DJ’s far and wide. We’ve found down-tempo ones. We’ve found super fast and beaty ones. Short ones and long ones. Ones that you wanna sit back and enjoy, and ones that will make you want to rage all over a dance floor. We think we’ve done our part. Let’s get s-mashed.

Also, keep in mind we want all of you to send us everything you got. We’re gonna be doing this here thang weekly, so send em’ on. As you already know earmilk maintains a constant semi for mashups, but when you add Kid Cudi and the Hood Internet into the mix, it becomes a full on hard on. So in celebration of the highly anticipated release of Man On The Moon: End of Day, that came out yesterday which all of you should be out buying to support Cudder.. we bring you a new Hood Internet mash of Kid Cudi with the timeless Bon Jovi. We know many of you share our love for mashes, so I included some of our all time favorite hip-hop inspired tracks from the mashup kings themselves, some classics and some newbies.. so check em out and enjoy.

Also in the near future we plan on putting in motion a Mashup Monday for you guys n’ gals, seeing how our inbox is overflowing with your mash submissions.. so keep them coming. Today earmilk says hello to Discovery, an electro pop and R&B duo. Discovery is the brainchild of Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij and Ra Ra Riot’s Wes Miles. XL records released a debut LP entitled LP back in July (sorry for the lateness). The album also features Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend, and Angel Deradoorian of the Dirty Projectors.

The songs are really fun to listen to and make dope summer jams (once again, sorry). Rostam and Wes find a way to mesh their inner 90’s R&B artist with their already touched electro stylings, but really the album is somewhat all over the place, appealing to different taste. Songs such as “Orange Shirt” hint at influences from artist like The Dream, while the spaced out, industrial elemented “Osaka Loop Line”, doesn’t hint at anything at all. On the insane track “So Insane”, Rostam and Wes go schizophrenic on the time signature, probably giving the track its name. I expect to hear more from this duo.
