[06.22.2009]Juno – Swells for you to relax to

Author: jsully

Juno
Seattle band Juno does what a lot of bands who are more famous than them do, but they do it a hell of a lot better. Think Mogwai and Explosions in the Sky, but with better vocal swells that aren’t too extreme. Juno released their debut album This Is the Way It Goes and Goes and Goes on DeSoto Records in 1999. Their second album A Future Lived in Past Tense was released May 8, 2001. The band was critically acclaimed by various local and national music journals and has toured throughout the US, Europe and Japan. They also released a split EP with The Dismemberment Plan which included a cover of DJ Shadow’sHigh Noon“. Unfortunately, we’re not going to be getting any new music, but I really love this band, so I’m posting their whole album for you to dowload and enjoy.

Michael Jordan is one of the greatest athletes of all time…this we already know. The other thing about him though is you can always watch highlights of him no matter how many times you’ve seen the same shots over and over. He’s one of the only players alive where you can do an imitation of one of his famous shots and people will immediately recognize who you are imitating. This video was created by Daesun Hwang and posted online. The video has an awesome lineup of music featuring: The Alan Parsons Project, RJD2, DJ Shadow, & Daft Punk. Check out the video below:

This is your Daily 2% – Chilled and Ready to Serve! We will try to bring you one “chill” track every day. This is for when you get home and you are trying to unwind. You reach for that glass of wine or that unlit Black & Mild or maybe you reach for something more herbal. This track is for those times. We will try to bring you at least one a day. We are just your milkmen and I’m here to make a delivery. Chill…..

Today’s delivery is brought to you by DJ Shadow & Dan the Automator. Most people should be familiar with these two artists and they should also be familiar with the album they did together. I do believe the album did slip by some so I wanted to post one of their chill songs. Its from the album they did together called “Bombay The Hard way (Guns, Cars & Sitars)” and the theme of this album all has to do with that “Indian”/Middle Eastern sound. The track is called “Professor Pyarelal” and its one of the chiller songs from the album.

DJ shadow has a few new projects coming up and one of them is to play a part in the new game called DJ Hero which will be made by the Guitar Hero folks and Dan the Automator has a new group called Crudo and also he’s been making beats for the new Adidas advertisements. So anyway…enough yak yak. Here’s the track for your Daily 2%. Just chill…..
