[09.23.2009]Mux Mool – Rhythm is a Dancer [Remix]

Author: jsully

Mux Mool

Mux Mool is a champion. This remix he did of the group SNAP’s 1992 song “Rhythm is a Dancer” is…amazing. Mool’s music is in much the same style of Eliot Lipp, and it’s dope to say the least. I know you know the song…you probably listen to it in the shower or some weird shit like that. Ill put up the original video just so you can check it.

Meanwhile, Minnesota native, but Brooklyn based Mux Mool has blown fans away in 2009. After being on iTunes best of in 2006 with the song “Lost and Found” he hit best of again in 2008 with Best Track “Death 9000 (Machinedrum remix)” Best New Artist with the 7 song experiment titled “Drum EP” and had a song on the best instrumental album, Moodgadget’s “Synchronicity Suite” with the track “10”. The collaboration between Ghostly International and Adult Swim, aptly titled “Ghostly Swim” included Mux’s “Night Court,” which provided the backdrop for an animated video with GI mascots BoyCatBird, and an Adult Swim bump. After a successful east coast / midwest tour in Fall 2008, Mux settled back into Brooklyn to put the fit and finish on two forthcoming releases, “Just Saying is All” which was released as an iTunes exclusive. You should check it out. I did.

Suicide Sundaes - Week 2

Suicide Sundaes – stop your grinnin’ and drop your linen. Every Sunday electblake and jsully of Earmilk will bring you the weeks dirty servings, and some old favorites through a throwdown-throwback to simpler times. A time when bangers were big, remixes were bigger, the bassline bled, and we didn’t care about anything as long as came in kicking and left screaming. To hell with sketchy sunday, we want to shove another dragon down the hole.

This long weekend we pretty much burned down every watering hole around town. We’ll continue our coverage of Bestrack (if you missed him), and Jokers of the Scene (High Contrast Remix), but throwdown a new track by Anto, some Linus Loves, The Prodigy (highly reccomended!), Tiga, and of course some bangers from the backpack.

This week we’ve brought you the same greatness that you all ate up last week plus a bit more, including a new Don Diablo track that we received earlier this week, some o.g. Mux Mool, and the new Acid Girls beat that we’ve been waiting to drop on you this bright and painful Sunday. Keep Reading…

To hell with sketchy sunday, we want to shove another dragon down the hole.

As this is our first week we wanted to take this opportunity to pay homage to the great sunday feature of our time – Palms Out Sounds’ Remix Sunday.

Palms Out has been a staple in the music blog culture since there was a culture and is not doubt a major influence on earmilk and all the editors/contributors here. Late last year, “Google, the IFPI & the RIAA begun a campaign against all the music blogs hosted on blogger.com – especially high profile blogs, like Palms Out.” and as such started deleting posts without warning even though Palms Out has expressed permission from artists covered weak week – We want to pay them respect by lighting a new fire on sundays…read the full post about it here

In this inaugural and resurrecting post we bring you some of the favourites of the holy years of Electro like Diplo, The Bloody Beetroots, Dom Rimini, Justice as well as some soon to be big boys (and girls) on the scene (autoKratz, and more). So shutup, plug in your studio speakers, and bounce.

[07.11.2009]Michna – Eggstra EP

Author: jsully

Michna

NY/Miami D.J. Michna AKA D.J. Egg Foo Young (real name Adrian Michna) has been touring his ass off. Until now. He has just released a new digital EP titled “Eggstra” which includes remixes from Star Eyes, Osbourne, and Eliot Lipp.

After moving to Miami in the mid-90’s, he co-founded the pioneering Secret Frequency Crew, who mixed instrumental hip-hop and electronic into a coherent whole. Their appropriately titled 12” “Miami Eyes,” became an underground hit and caught the attention of a then-unknown Diplo who would ask him for production work.

While working on his solo album, he also found time to remix the mysterious Jandek (the only artist ever to do so) and produce on Brazilian group Bonde Do Role’s debut LP for Domino/Mad Decent.

This release is super beaty and I love the 80’s Miami vice style synths. Put on dem’ stunner shades, ride your lowrider bike, and put this on your iPod to get the full on Michna experience, suckas. Check out the video too, brought to you by one of my personal favs, Ghostly INTL. Enjoy.

[06.16.2009]Friends of Friends Vol. 1 : Daedelus & Logger on the “T-Shirt Label”

Author: jsully

Daedelus

The music business is not always the first to pick up new ideas and run with them. We have seen the mighty “Big 4” labels waiver in the face of adversity, and the rise of indie’s self promotion all due to the internet.

Now in L.A.,  a label may be ready to bring the ruckus and shake some things up.
“For fans there lies a fresh opportunity to change the way we value and understand music as a whole.” writes Leeor Brown, creator of Friends of Friends.

FoF,  describe themselves as a “T-Shirt Label.”  The idea is that when you are signed to Friends of Friends, you sign on to do a split EP with another artist of your choice. Then together, you commission an artist to create the EP’s artwork on a limited edition American Apparel t-shirt. When purchased, the shirt will also be sent with a download card to get the EP, exclusive remixes, and videos.

Not only that, but they did it big on their first release in March 2009 featuring L.A.’s Daedelus and Logger and art by husband and wife duo, Kozyndan. It also features exclusive remixes from “friendsNosaj Thing, Eliot Lipp, Grahm Zilla of Thunderheist, Michna, Mexicans with Guns, Meanest Man Contest, and Keenhouse.

Check out Friends of Friends for some solid electro, fresh shirts, and if nothing else, to see how the music business is making “friends“.
