Suicide Sundaes – stop your grinnin’ and drop your linen. Every Sunday electblake and jsully of Earmilk will bring you the weeks dirty servings, and some old favorites through a throwdown-throwback to simpler times. A time when bangers were big, remixes were bigger, the bassline bled, and we didn’t care about anything as long as came in kicking and left screaming. To hell with sketchy sunday, we want to shove another dragon down the hole.

This week comes in a Neapolitan – We start off with some bangers, a few mashes in the middle, some great vocal centered dance tracks and then we top it off with a classic cherry.

Bangers this week are from Savoy, HAEZER (Welcome back!), The “S”, Belzebass, and 16bit. Take extra care with the Belzebass remix of a hardcore(ish) band covering Briney Spears, it may just beat you up and cut your hair to the side.

The 2 Mashups, both classics that I couldn’t help myself but drop in. Whats more interesting is the Tigerstrike tracks we have going this week. Xanx is the latest release from indie dance rock electro act Tigerstrike, friends of HAEZER who also hails from South Africa. Thats right, We covered HAEZER a couple of months back and yes, sweet music is coming out of South Africa.

So, to be honest, I have hesitated about posting this for a little while now. I’m a huge Bassnectar fan, but mainly the older stuff he did before ‘Underground Communication‘. That album threw me off, (except ‘Verbing the Noun‘, that track was sick.) and I was about to say to hell with it. I read post about his new album “Cozza Frenzy” that is about to get released, and I saw he was coming to Miami for a show, so naturally, I said “Hey let me see what this cat is up to.” I’m glad I did, since I gripped the Fever Ray remix he did, and you can get it too at the bottom of this page. I would, since listening to it once got me back into a Bassnectar frenzy all by itself. You can also listen to the title track from his new album below.

Bassnectar is a freeform electronic music and social experimentation project based in San Francisco, California. Primarily a music project of Lorin Ashton, Bassnectar is also accompanied by various collaborators. Ashton describes Bassnectar’s sound as “omni-tempo maximalism,” by which he means combining beats and basslines with music of any or all speeds, time signatures, rhythms, and sound source. The sound gravitates toward heavy tempos, playing with double time and half time, and using electronic methods to embellish and reinforce other styles of music.
