Suicide Sundaes - Week 2

Suicide Sundaes – stop your grinnin’ and drop your linen. Every Sunday electblake and jsully of Earmilk will bring you the weeks dirty servings, and some old favorites through a throwdown-throwback to simpler times. A time when bangers were big, remixes were bigger, the bassline bled, and we didn’t care about anything as long as came in kicking and left screaming. To hell with sketchy sunday, we want to shove another dragon down the hole.

This week we bring you the Earmilk debut of the newly be-friended “HAEZER“, he’s from South Africa and he knows what he’s doing. You’d think he was straight off the floors of San Fran or the streets of Paris… We’ll have a full workup on him soon, this is just a tastey warning.

Other then that we found some new Jack Beats, Van She, more from the sweetness of Audionite (a new fav of ours), and of course some oldies – Blake Miller (Ruthless) vs. Sick Boy, and Le Castle Vania.

[06.16.2009]Friends of Friends Vol. 1 : Daedelus & Logger on the “T-Shirt Label”

Author: jsully

Daedelus

The music business is not always the first to pick up new ideas and run with them. We have seen the mighty “Big 4” labels waiver in the face of adversity, and the rise of indie’s self promotion all due to the internet.

Now in L.A.,  a label may be ready to bring the ruckus and shake some things up.
“For fans there lies a fresh opportunity to change the way we value and understand music as a whole.” writes Leeor Brown, creator of Friends of Friends.

FoF,  describe themselves as a “T-Shirt Label.”  The idea is that when you are signed to Friends of Friends, you sign on to do a split EP with another artist of your choice. Then together, you commission an artist to create the EP’s artwork on a limited edition American Apparel t-shirt. When purchased, the shirt will also be sent with a download card to get the EP, exclusive remixes, and videos.

Not only that, but they did it big on their first release in March 2009 featuring L.A.’s Daedelus and Logger and art by husband and wife duo, Kozyndan. It also features exclusive remixes from “friendsNosaj Thing, Eliot Lipp, Grahm Zilla of Thunderheist, Michna, Mexicans with Guns, Meanest Man Contest, and Keenhouse.

Check out Friends of Friends for some solid electro, fresh shirts, and if nothing else, to see how the music business is making “friends“.
