Wobble Wednesday [Week 21]

A wild assortment of future funk, dope drum 'n' bass, and a very special thank you to Candyland comprise Week 21 of Wobble Wednesday. Artists to note include Tube & Berger, Pink Noise Ordinance, Rektchordz, Metrik, and Dee Reck. I apologize for the lack of classic dubstep tunes this week. It was really tough to find anything of the sort. I tried to make up for it with Plastician's recent Rinse FM mix. It's bassy and strange, but gets the job done. FUTURE Deep house vibes from Tube & Berger. These guys aren't...

Konshen- "Gal a Bubble" (Major Lazer x Bro Safari x ETC! ETC! Remix)

Konshen's “Gal a Bubble” is a banging track as is, but Major Lazer, Bro Safari, and ETC! ETC! really brought an extra punch in their version of this track. It's a rather standard remix that we can all expect from these guys, but in all honesty, Mad Decent always delivers, so standard is good in this case. The first comment about this song (on the Soundcloud page) is that it's too short, and it's completely true- my only complaint was that I wanted to keep the song going for much much longer. For a guaranteed...

Major Lazer - "Lazer Strikes Back Vol. 2"

A couple of weeks ago, Major Lazer released a compilation of insane remixes titled Lazer Strikes Back, Vol. 1 (side note the Yellow Claw remix of “Get Free” is top notch). This mix was released shortly after they announced that their sophomore album, Free The Universe, would be delayed...

Major Lazer - "Jessica" (feat. Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend)

Major Lazer just teamed up with Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend for their latest track “Jessica,” which first premiered on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show. If you are looking to tune up and tune out than this is the track for you. With an ever so lovely reggae vibe to match Koenig's solid vocals,...

BUKU Music + Art Project [Festival Preview]

The eve of BUKU Music + Art Project has creeped up on us, and we, the EARMILK staff, couldn't be happier. Sporting a robust lineup of hip-hop artists and electronic artists, the organizers of BUKU have created a festival that usually signifies the start of festival season. Taking place in the...

Wobble Wednesday [Week 8]

This week we're doing things a little bit differently. I've decided to experiment with less writing and more tunes. Don't worry, it's not permanent–I just want to minimize any descriptors that prevent you guys from forming your own unbiased opinion about each song. You'll notice a couple golden...

The Club - Week 45

Another week has flown by, closing the first two months of the year and bringing us to March, one of the most exciting months for electronic music. As Steph mentioned last week (and as I am sure you all know), the Winter Music Conference will be upon us shortly, which means artists are pulling out...

Snoop Lion - "Lighters Up" (Feat. Mavado & Popcaan) (Prod. Major Lazer)

Snoop Dogg made some pretty big waves when he announced that he would now be known as Snoop Lion. But the thing about Snoop is that, he is so well liked that he is one of the few artists where a move like this is just generally accepted. He's earned the right to move in any direction he chooses and...
