It’s no secret that we are huge fans of People Under The Stairs here on Earmilk. They recently had a contest where they had contestants take a song from their latest album and come up with the best and most unique mix. PUTS goes on to explain their criteria:

I appreciate the number of dance and house remixes that were done but a few of them seemed to lay the vocals on as an afterthought. If the rhymes aren’t riding the beat, I feel like the song is better off as a beat and not a “remix”. On the same note, the breakdown was definitely the curveball in the remix. And sometimes everything was going well up until that point but he beat never recovered coming out of it. I know it was a difficult thing to hook up but hey, if we had done that and it was a fixed tempo all the way through, any person with any beat could have laid the vocals over it and been done. At least this showed who put the extra effort into the project.

They track they ended up picking was done by DJ Doc Delay and its definitely a super funky remix that deserves first place. Check out the track below:

I’ve never heard a song like this and it comes from none other than People Under The Stairs. The track is called “Dqmot” (Dont Quote Me On This) and its from their latest album, Carried Away, which just dropped a few days ago.  This may be one of the most geekiest songs i’ve ever heard yet they make the song sound so dope. There are a few internet lingo songs out there but none of them actually sound that great. You wont be able to name them all but this track is filled non stop with memes and computer acronyms. The song even has “Keyboard Cat” in it… See how many internet references you can name.

People Under The Stairs have relased the official video for the song “Trippin’ at the Disco” which is a track on their upcoming album. The album drops tomorrow so make sure you grab it. The video is hilarious and of course has dope rhymes and beats. Their is a “back story” to the video that goes a little something like..

In March of 1980 two young rappers from los angeles appeared on the “Chikara Kurahashi Hit Station” variety show in Tokyo. It was the first time rap music had ever been performed in Asia and here is the lost tape of that performance. Are you excited yet? “Excited about what?” you say? Well the newest People Under The Stairs album of course! Carried Away will be released October 13th and I would seriously suggest pre-ordering or at least picking it up the first day. Listen to me when i say…this album will be an instant classic. The good news for today is that Thes One from PUTS has put together a cool video below. The video has tons of scenes from the past few years since they released FUN DMC. The video was made for PUTS fans and the good thing is it contains tons of snippets from the upcoming album which is entitled Carried Away.
