Now this isn't the first Big L "Put it On" remix I've shared with you guys, but trust me this one is just as good- but completely different at the same time. I last introduced you to J1K , a Maryland beat maker who took a rather mellow approach with the legendary lyricist's acapella, spinning it into a wonderful rendition of a much calmer L. Today I bring you Sam Sullivan, a 18 year old producer sprouted from the city of Concord, New Hampshire.
Sullivan is another magician in the steady arsenal over at Producers United, as well as J1K. It's a bit unusual for me to be writing about someone who is still in high school, but in Sam's case his popularity among his peers is one of the reasons the track made it into my hands! Sam implements a higher stakes element into his remix, picking up Big L's pace and putting it back down with every heavy hitting kick. I have a "Put it On" sweet tooth, so it's not too hard to get me to like a remix. However, this one serves as an exemplary edit with unique and authentic methods involved. Take a listen for yourself and see what you think.
