Neo-soul revivalist GDNA was featured on EARMILK late last year for his excellent re-interpretation of Drake's single "Club Paradise". The So Cal native has since been deep in the lab putting the finishing touches on his upcoming EP, Quadrants, due early this spring. In order to give fans a taste of what to expect, GDNA has decided to release a new single from the project featuring Soulection producer Jo Def entitled "Reasons".
The heartfelt ballad starts out with with a glistening synth and a sharp guitar riff that is layered with some poignant serenading from GDNA all while shuffling juke drums are then introduced into mix. This results in a track that is not only emotionally moving, but also very danceable due to the afro-beat inspired drum patterns courtesy of Jo-Def. It is an interesting mix of Chicago footwork, 90's Soul, R&B, and electronic music that is (hopefully) a good indication of how the full project will sound.
