Chicago/Los Angeles based musician Ryan Reidy announces new LP Fringe Body Parts led by fuzzed out single "Dr. Felix And His Fringe Body Parts.” With its glitchy and noisy sonics, the catchy track offers the perfect glimpse into the 12-track project.
Matching the chaotic soundscape, the foreboding lyrics ponder on the theme of the human animal in civilized society and reflect on the crisis of our bodies.
Speaking of the track, Ready says, "I had this idea of a quack doctor like Dr Nick from the Simpsons hosting a podcast where he gave out DIY at home medical advice. In this case, it’s a character named “Dr. Felix” who is attempting to legitimize his advice by describing pseudo science like socio-biology."
The album spans soaring pop sounds built on distorted guitars and pumping rhythms to deliver a magnificent take on art rock through a Midwestern DIY lens.
About the album, he says, "Inspired by podcasters, influencers, and any other grifter/conmen that have co-opted spaces that used to be filled with leftist/progressive/socialist leaning artists. It’s about the oppressors using the language of the oppressed to harm people. More specifically, it’s commentary on people that misrepresent their fantasies as being simultaneously part of but outside of any academic discipline.”
With musical roots that run deep in the DIY and underground music scenes, Ryan Reidy is set to offer up an introspective collection seamlessly weaving punk, noise rock, art rock, and garage rock. An artistic expression of the times we live in, the album will be a freeing yet feral musical voyage – with the latest single being a carefully crafted peek at what’s to come.
